This FAQ addresses users of house-control solutions (not energy- or security packages).

Connection & communication

The system is offline / No connection to house / Does not update. What can I do?

If the house-control has been without connect to the central for more than 24 hours, the system is considered offline and will be shown in the middle of the remote control screen as "Offline". The time stamp for latest update from the house-control system is visible in the top right corner in same picture. If the time stamp is a few hours old, the missing update might be due to communication delay (see section "... communication delay" on this page.)

If a router or Internet-provider have been changed, please refer to that section.

The cause for an offline system is iften the result of a disconnected Internet-connection or a long term power failure. flex-control a/s is not responsible to these dependencies, however, the Internet-provider is capable of checking the connection to your router or house-control installation. To check if the power is on one will have to do this at the house by e.g. using the keypad, which should beep on key stroke. Nnote that the house-control system is probably installation on its own power group.

Check that the power group on which the system is installed is on.
Check the cabel connection from modem to router and house-control installation.
Does the Internet work from other outlets?

Long communication delays occurs. What could be the cause?

The time stamp for latest update with the house-control can be seen at the top right in the remote control screen. This value should normally update every 10. minute on a working Internet connection.

Continuing long delays (more than 2 hours) happen when connections can only be established from the house-control, and not by the central/remote control, meaning the communication is always started on the sceduled initiative of the house-control (often 1-2 hours).

If the system is connected to the Internet using a cabel, a port-forwarding rule should exist in the intermediate routers. See section about "New router" for setup explanation.
If the system is connected to the Internet using a modem, contact flex-control a/s for a solution.

New router / New modem / Router resetted / Port forwarding. What should I do?

Port forward setup for Windows 7/10.

If the house-control system is connected to the Internet via a router, a long delay occurs after resetting an existing or setting up a new router. This happens because a port forwarding rule is missing i all routers between the house-control and the Internet. Follow this procedure to set up the rule in each router:

1. Connect a computer to the router using a cabel.
2. Find the routers IP-address:
    2.1 Open a command window by typing cmd i the start menu search field, and press Enter. A black window with white font appears.
    2.2 Type ipconfig in this window and press Enter.
    2.3 Find the section with title similar to "Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection". This section contains some number sequences.
    2.4 A number is named "Standard gateway" (or similar) and defines the IP-address of the router. Skrive this IP-address down.
3. Open a browser like Microsoft Edge.
4. Type the IP-address into the address field of the browser and press Enter. Do not include characters such as "http://" or "www.".
5. The configuration page of the router is shown, and requires a username and password.
6. Username and password exists in the documentation of the router, and might be written on the bottom of the router (the user name is often admin and the password is often nothing or admin or password.
7. If the "Standard gateway" IP-address differs from 192.168.1.1, and the house-control system is unable to communication with the remote control, follow Router IP-address setup in Windows 7/10 before continuing this procedure.
8. In the configuration website of the router look for "Port forwarding" or similar.
9. Once found the port forwarding rule is created using these settings:
    Name (optional): House-Control
    IP-address: 192.168.1.50
    Start port: 3000
    End port: 3000
    Protocol: TCP/UDP (both)
    Save settings / Activate settings.
10. If possible save all settings before closing the browser window.


Router IP-address setup in Windows 7/10:

The house-control system is installed using IP-address 192.168.1.50 if using a router for connecting the Internet. The house-control is set up is communicate to the router on IP-address 192.168.1.1. If the router's IP-adress differs from this, follow the instructions below.

1. Follow the Port forward setup for Windows 7/10 instructions 1-6.
2. On the router website locate a setting named "Local router IP-address or similar.
3. Change this setting to 192.168.1.1
4. Save setting and restart the computer (and any other computer connected to the router).

New Internet provider. What should I do?

The house-control system makes use of either a static or dynamic IP-address. The IP-address is offered by the Internet provider, and a static IP-address is requeested explicitly. flex-control a/s can inform you if your house-control solution requires a static IP-address.

If the house-control system is connected directly to an Internet-provider provided modem (or fiberbox), it might be necessary to change the modem's local IP-address. See Router IP-address setup in Windows 7/10 in section New router.

Access control & access codes

Lost access code. How to request a new code?

Contact the flex-control a/s hotline. A new access code can be sent to that e-mail address you have given flex-control a/s. In case this e-mail is invalid, the new access code is sent by snail mail to the invoice address. Access code can not be told by phone.

The door lock doesn't work. What can I do?

Once the code has been typed on the keypad and the lock-symbol has been press, the keypad signals one of following:

a) 4 short beeps every time
The typed code does not exist in the system. Confirm that you are typing the correct numbers.
Examine that the code exists int the system, and that the time limited period is valid (if any).
If the keypad is a touch keypad, try to press the buttons closer to the vertical keypad edge.

b) 1 short beep every time
The typed code cannot be validated due to a system error.
Technician required.

c) 1 long beep every time
The typed code is valid, and the door lock should open or close.
If the lock works using a motor, the motor might not move the lock enough to lock/unlock, and the lock must be adjusted. Hotline can change this setting instantly from the office.
Another option is that the locking device is broken.

d) No beep on key strokes
The keypad is either without power or defect.

e) The feed back beeps various even that the code should be valid
If the keypad acknowledges the same code differently, this can be due to a hypersensitive keypad or defekt foil, which covers the front of the keypad (exists on the tall and narrow black keypad).
If a touch keypad is used, try to press the buttons towards the keypad edge, to ensure that the correct key is pressed.
The keypad might be broken.

Other behaviour:

a) The door lock can be unlocked, but not locked every time
This problem might be because of a defect lock-button. If using a touch keypad, try to press the buttons towards the keypad edge, to ensure that the correct key is pressed.
If a magnet lock is used (the handle is disconnected the locking mecanisme), the problem might be casued by a missing sigal from the latch bolt, which should indicate to the system is the door is closed or not. Check if the latch bolt is pressed firmly into the door once the door is closed.
If the lock is driven using a motor, the cause might be that the deadbolt cannot move unimpeded into the door frame.

It might be necessary to adjust the door. This is done by a carpendar.

b) The door can lock be not unlock every time
The problem might be casued by a defect lock-button. If using a touch keypad, try to press the buttons towards the keypad edge, to ensure that the correct key is pressed.

c) The door must be held or pushed in a certain way, for the lock to work
The door should be adjusted by a carpender.

Super user codes cannot be accessed or changed. Why?

Super user codes are always hidden from the owner (administrator). Only super user 1 can see and change super user codes.
If a rental agreement with a booking agency exists, the agency would normally be super user 1. If no rental agreement exists the super user 1 code can be reset by flex-control a/s, in order for the owner (administrator) to create one's own super user 1 code.

Alarm functionality

The burglar alarm has been deactivated automatically. Why?

To avoid repeatedly alerting, the burglar alarm is always disabled after the alarm has gone off.
Reenabling the burglar alarm is done using the setting Burglar alarm available and Burglar alarm* from the remote control.
*) Do not use this setting if the house currently occupied. This setting will automatically go on when the door is locked with Burglar alarm available chosen.

The smoke alarm remains in alarm state. Why?

To avoid repeatedlt alerting, the smoke alarm is diabled after the alarm has gone off.
Reenabling og the snoke alarm is done by loosen and retighten the smoke alarm device itself from its base. This is done by turning the sensor device by hand.

Hvad does the number in the SMS alert message mean?

The number is to automatic parsing used by receivers like an alarm central.

Consumption meters

Consumption meter does not count right. Why?

Consumption meters must be synchronized to the physical meter, by typing the counter value of the physical meter into the remote control.

Consumption meter still counts wrong after synchronization. Why?

The house-control system is probably configured wrong, and interpretes the signal wrong.

On the phycial meter a pulse count pr unit is shown (like pulses pr kWh or liter). This number must equal the setting of the huse-control, visible in the setting window of the respektive meter.
The the house-control meter still divagates, synchronize the meter and measure after a while (easyly distinquishable difference, e.g. 1 month). Write down the time of reading and the meter value of the physical and house-control meter, and inform flex-control a/s. Just by knowing the difference a correction might be possible.

Heat

The heat does not increase even that it should be on and a high chosen temperature is selected. What is the reason for this?

For correct heat control see the section explaining Heat and Temperature in this help.

Even if the thermostat status indicates that the heat is currently on, the heat cannot exceed the temperature of each individual thermostat in the house. Make sure that all thermostats are set to the right confort temperature.

The heat increases even that the heat is off and a low chosen temperature is selected in the remote control. What is the reason for this?

This behaviour could be the result of low or no battery in the wireless thermostats.

The measured indoor temperature is wrong. What could be the reason for this?

The temperature sensor (looks like a 230V switch with more groove in a 1x1cm square) should be placed centrally in the house. An inappropriate location like near a heating device, or in an isolated room, might case the heat to be switched off before the comfort temperature is reached.
If the measured indoor temperature is unrealistic low, the reason could be a missing signal from the thermometer. Contact flex-control a/s.

The measured outdoor temperature is wrong. What could be the reason for this?

The outdoor temperature is measured using a thermometer inside the keypad used for access control. The temperature is not necessearyly measured in the showdow.
If the outdoor temperature is unrealistic low, the thermometer is either not working, or the keypad is not equiped with with feature. The temperature can either be removed or replaced with temperature from an online weather service by flex-control a/s.

The chosen temperature keeps going back to an original valve. What is the reason for this?

The reason is that a booking agency keeps controling the temperature into a desired occupied/unoccupied state.
Cantact the agency if discrepancies exists. flex-control a/s is not allowed to overrule the actions made by the booking agency.

How can the temperature/heat be controlled without use of the remote control?

Both thermostat auto, chosen temperature and the manual heat control can be set using the keypad at the door. See komponentbeskrivelsens section 2.2 (danish).

Book keeping / Other

I have aquired a house with a flex-control house-control installation. How do I get started?

Send signed documents of the acquisition contract to flex-control a/s, and you will receive a welcome letter with all necessary information to get started.
